What would we do without Email now? Email as a concept has its roots in the early days of computer networking, but its modern form evolved over time: 1965: Email-like messaging systems began appearing on time-sharing computers. One of the first systems was MIT's Compatible Time-Sharing System (CTSS), which allowed users to send messages to each other. 1971: Ray Tomlinson, a programmer working on ARPANET (the precursor to the internet), is credited with inventing email as we know it. He implemented a system that could send messages between users on different computers. He also introduced the "@" symbol to separate the username from the host. 1978: The first email marketing campaign was sent by Gary Thuerk, a marketing manager, to promote a product, marking a new use of email for business. So the scam caller wants to give a loyalty discount to seniors who have been customers for a long time. Asks how much your bill is and deducts 40%. Says they will apply this to your bill. No added taxes just the one total monthly, lol. They then want to know how you will pay the activation fee of $3. Now they say they cannot add it to your bill. Do they really think your going to give them your credit card number. Very slick talkers though. It disgusts me so I stay on as long as possible and steal as much of their time as I can.
